Eva Schömer is a Professor of Law at the Department of Law and Economics within the Faculty of Economics at Uppsala University. She serves as a Subject representative for Law and is actively involved with the Governance Regulation Internationalization and Performance (GRIP) network and the University-wide Ethics Council. Her academic career spans several decades with continuous scholarly output since 1991.
Professor Schömer's research focuses on labor law and working life issues from a legal perspective, with particular emphasis on gender studies and intersectionality. Her work examines how laws and regulations in the workplace contribute to power dynamics through subordination and superordination within the legal order, analyzing societal norms, legislation, and judicial application of legal rules. Key research areas include disability and folk high schools, intersectionality and discrimination, gender equality studies, and access to justice.
Her scholarly output shows consistent productivity with 95 publications to date, including 18 book chapters, 21 oral presentations, 18 articles, and 5 books. Recent work demonstrates continued engagement with intersectionality in legal sociology, personal assistance services, and workplace discrimination issues. The trend in her publications reveals an increasing focus on intersectional approaches to understanding power structures in labor law contexts.

Professor Schömer actively supervises doctoral students and participates in numerous research networks including the Employment Law Network, Commercial Law Network, The Network for Work-Life-Oriented Care Research, Law and vulnerability at Lund University, Swedish Association of Gender Researchers, and Access to Justice at Aarhus University. She has secured research funding, most recently for the project "Breddad tillgänglighet och medskapande folkbildning" (2021).
Her research is organized through multiple collaborative networks including GRIP (Governance, Regulation, Internationalization and Performance), the national Employment Law Network, and the Network for Work-Life-Oriented Care Research. These networks facilitate interdisciplinary research on labor law, gender studies, and intersectionality within the Scandinavian welfare state context.
