Dr. Eva Lyon is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Earth Sciences at the College of Wooster specializing in limnogeology and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Her research employs sediment geochemistry and stratigraphy to understand historical climate patterns and environmental changes in lacustrine systems.
Key investigations include high-resolution drought reconstruction using carbonate geochemistry in Sierra Nevada lakes, anthropogenic impacts on lake ecosystems, and trace metal mobility in groundwater systems. Her fieldwork spans diverse regions including California's eastern Sierra Nevada and Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
Recent publications demonstrate advanced applications of geochemical proxies for reconstructing hydroclimate variability and assessing human impacts on natural systems. Her teaching includes Earth Systems Evolution and Global Change courses.
