Michael M. McGlue

Dr. Michael M. McGlue is Alumni Endowed Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Kentucky, directing research on paleolimnology and climate resilience. His work analyzes lake sediments to reconstruct environmental changes, with field sites spanning the Pantanal wetlands, African Rift lakes, and Sierra Nevada.

Research employs sediment coring, geochemical analysis, and geophysical techniques to study hydrological variability and ecosystem responses. Recent publications focus on tropical floodplain dynamics, climate-driven ecological shifts, and anthropogenic impacts on lacustrine systems.

He co-directs the James B. Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits and leads scientific drilling initiatives investigating Quaternary climate records.
