Dr. Eva De Clercq serves as a Research Fellow in biomedical ethics with an interdisciplinary foundation spanning philosophy, social and cultural anthropology, and cultural communication. Her work critically examines ethical dilemmas in healthcare systems with emphasis on marginalized populations.
Her educational background features a PhD in Philosophy completed through a collaborative program between the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Pisa (Italy).
Research priorities include:
- Palliative care frameworks across general and pediatric contexts
- Healthcare navigation for adolescents and young adults
- Structural vulnerabilities in medical treatment access
- Ethical dimensions of rare disease management
- Gender identity and sexual health with specialized focus on intersex issues
Dr. De Clercq maintains an extensive publication record across bioethics, medical philosophy, and interdisciplinary healthcare journals. She delivers specialized instruction in ethics, bioethics, philosophy, and gender studies to STEM and humanities students at all academic levels within international institutions.
Current research engagement includes the SHARED-VSC initiative through the Biomedical Ethics Team, addressing collaborative ethical decision-making in complex clinical scenarios.
