Morten Magelssen

Morten Magelssen is a Professor and Head of the Centre for Medical Ethics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo. He leads research and teaching in clinical ethics, end-of-life care, priority setting, and Christian perspectives on bioethics. He is actively involved in national ethics policy and serves on the Norwegian Biotechnology Advisory Board.

His recent publications analyze ethical dilemmas in home care, public attitudes toward assisted dying, implementation of clinical ethics committees, and moral challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The articles reflect a strong commitment to practical ethics, healthcare governance, and patient-centered decision-making, often using qualitative and survey methodologies.
