Eugenio Fazio is an Associate Professor at the University of Catania. He graduated with honors in Geological Sciences from the same university in 2001 and earned his PhD in Petrology and Petrography in 2005. His academic career has been entirely at the University of Catania, transitioning from a researcher (2011-2020) to an associate professor since 2021.
- Research Focus: Metamorphic petrology, structural geology, and 3D geological modeling using UAV, LiDAR, and GIS technologies.
- Teaching: Delivers laboratory courses in optical mineralogy and petrography for undergraduate Geological Sciences, and field courses in crystal mapping for graduate Geology and Geophysics programs.
- Scientific Contributions: Conducts petrophysical laboratory tests to analyze metamorphic textures and seismic anisotropy. Participates in national research projects (PRIN, FIR) and international collaborations.
- Leadership Roles: Secretary General of the European DRT Society (Deformation Mechanisms, Rheology, Tectonics) and Scientific Director of the DSBGA library at the University of Catania.
