Eugene Kim

Eugene Kim is a Korean Lecturer at Kingston University, UK, affiliated with the Department of Humanities within the Kingston School of Art. He teaches Korean language courses (Levels 1-4) and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the online magazine Nabillera: Contemporary Korean Literature. His academic background includes a PhD in English Literature from Kingston University (defended 2024), supervised by Professor Fred Botting.

Research focuses on modernity, empathy, and Gothic cultural logics in Korean contexts, exemplified by his upcoming monograph Gothic Korea: Trauma, Empathy, and the Uncanny Modernity. He holds a BA and MA from Kyung Hee University (South Korea) and an MA from the University of Exeter (UK).

Professional roles include Board Member and Book Curator for the Korean Literature Curation and Reader Engagement Project (KPIPA/Overseas Korean Cultural Centres). He collaborates with cultural institutions to promote Korean literature globally and supports student development through language and future skill initiatives.
