Etienne Anheim is a Professor and Director of Studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), affiliated with the Center for Historical Research (CRH). He is associated with the GEHM and AHLoMA research teams and works at the CRH laboratory in Paris. His academic journey began at ENS Fontenay-St-Cloud (1993-1998), where he earned his agrégé in history in 1996, followed by a doctorate in history in 2004. He served as a CNRS research fellow at the French School of Rome from 2002-2006.
His research spans medieval history with particular focus on economic, social and material history of painting, history of writing practices between the 13th and 15th centuries, historiography, and epistemology of history.
