Olivier Poncet

Olivier Poncet is a Professor at the National School of Charters (École nationale des chartes-PSL) and a Director of Studies at EHESS. He is affiliated with the CRH (Centre de Recherche Historique, UMR 8558) and leads the GEHM (Study Group on Modern Historiographies) team. His research focuses on the institutional, sociological, and archival history of powers (French monarchy, papal power) in the modern era; the history of documentary forms and acculturation to writing in pre-industrial Western Europe and Japan; and the history of historical science actors and institutions from the 116th to early 20th century. He has ongoing projects including an analytical edition of company deeds from Parisian notaries (1670-1675), a manual for editing modern documentary texts (Manuel d'édition des textes documentaires de l'époque moderne), and the ANR-DFG GRACEFUL17 project on transnational grace regimes in the Roman Apostolic Datary (17th century).
