Esther Pans

Dr. Esther Pans is a Researcher at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Amsterdam Centre for Family Law and A-LAB. Her work focuses on liability law, medical law, and euthanasia law. She holds a PhD in Law (2006) and has published extensively on workplace liability, traffic accident compensation, and victim rights. Her email is e.pans@vu.nl.

Research Interests: Esther’s research spans normative foundations of Dutch euthanasia law, liability frameworks in healthcare, and victim compensation mechanisms. She combines empirical research with legal analysis to address gaps in legislative proposals and judicial practices.

Awards: Recipient of the mr. C.J. Goudsmitprijs (2005) for academic excellence in law.

Activities: She has delivered lectures on health law, workplace liability, and legal representation of incapacitated individuals. Recent talks include presentations on euthanasia law (2011) and workplace liability case law (2011).
