Ester Felez Vinas

Ester Felez Vinas is a Senior Lecturer in the Finance Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Business School, since July 2019. She holds a PhD in Finance from Stockholm University (2019) and has held visiting positions at the Fisher College of Business (Ohio State University) and Stockholm School of Economics. Her research focuses on financial markets, including market structure, algorithmic trading, decentralized finance, and cryptocurrencies.

Ester’s educational background includes a BSc/MSc in Business from the University of Barcelona (2011), an MSc in Banking and Finance from Stockholm University (2014), and a PhD in Finance (2019). She also serves as a Research Fellow at the Digital Finance Co-operative Research Centre (DFCRC).

Her research interests span financial regulation, market manipulation, and blockchain technology applications. She has received awards including the Business School Achievement Award for Leadership (2023) and the Financial Review Reader’s Choice Award (2022).

Ester has contributed to funded research projects, such as the Digital Finance CRC Secondment (2023–2025) and the DFCRC Scholarship for Luke Johnson (2022–2025). She teaches courses like Digital and Decentralized Markets (MBA) and Capital Markets (Master of Finance), and mentors Honours students in Digital Finance.

Her service roles include chairing the 6th Sydney Market Microstructure and Digital Finance Meeting and serving on recruitment and disciplinary committees at UTS.
