Estelle Iacona is the Director General of the merged ENSTA within the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), appointed in May 2025. She oversees the integration of ENSTA Paris and ENSTA Bretagne, focusing on strategic challenges in defense, digital, transport, energy, and maritime sectors. Previously, she held roles including Professor at CentraleSupélec since 2007, Head of the Macroscopic Molecular Energetics and Combustion Laboratory (UPR CNRS), and Deputy Director General of École Centrale Paris. Her research focuses on gas radiation and coupled transfers, and she authored books on future energy challenges.
Education: Engineering degree from Polytech Nantes, PhD from École Centrale Paris, and a post-doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. Awards include the 2022 Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars Fellowship.
Leadership roles include Vice-President of Research at CentraleSupélec, President of Université Paris-Saclay (2022–2024), and Head of International Strategy at the French Ministry of Higher Education (2024–present). She serves on boards such as the Strategic Orientation Committee of the University of Toulouse and XFAB Silicon Foundries SE.
