Jean Paul CHABARD is a Professor at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and currently serves as Scientific Director of Research and Development at EDF. He holds a graduate degree from Ecole Centrale de Paris and has been with EDF's R&D department since 1984, leading key roles including Director of Financial Management and head of major projects like the EDF Lab Paris-Saclay. His research focuses on mechanics, materials, and civil engineering applications, with expertise in computational fluid dynamics and hydraulics.
- Oversees ~150 CIFRE theses and academic-industry partnerships
- Member of ENSTA Paris, CentraleSupélec, IRT System-X, and Nuclear Valley Competitiveness Cluster councils
Research interests include fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and advanced engineering systems. He chairs Polytech Clermont's School Council and is an Honorary Member of the AIRH.
Recipient of the Grand Prix de l'Hydrotechnique (2006) from the Société Hydrotechnique de France.
Advising/grants: Manages significant R&D portfolios and collaborations with academia/industry. Active in transferring innovations between academic and industrial sectors.
