Ernesto Lira de la Rosa

Dr. Ernesto Lira de la Rosa is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University's Steinhardt School. He holds a Ph.D. and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with a specialization in Latino Studies.

Research Interests: His work focuses on advancing mental health education, social justice advocacy, and culturally competent care for marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and trauma survivors. He leads the CHISME Research Team, which prioritizes mental health equity and systemic change.

Teaching & Leadership: He directs NYU's LGBTQ+ Health, Education, and Social Services certificate program and teaches courses on counseling ethics, LGBTQ+ affirmative practices, and social justice advocacy.
