Erin Tolley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on race, gender, and socio-demographic diversity in Canadian politics, with a particular emphasis on media representation of candidates and strategies to improve inclusion of racialized minorities and Indigenous peoples in political science.

She has authored the book Framed: Media and the Coverage of Race in Canadian Politics, which received the 2017 Donald Smiley Prize. Her work has been published in journals such as Electoral Studies, Canadian Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and she has co-edited four books on diversity and politics.
Erin's research agenda includes analyzing biases toward political candidates, electoral representation dynamics, and media framing of race-related issues. She previously worked as a policy researcher and holds a PhD funded by the Trudeau Foundation and SSHRC.
