Erin Godfrey is the Director of NYU's Institute of Human Development and Social Change and an Associate Professor of Applied Psychology at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Development, and Education. She holds a BA in Psychology and Policy from Oberlin College and a PhD in Community and Developmental Psychology from NYU. Her research focuses on systemic oppression, social equity, and intersectionality, examining these themes in education, juvenile justice systems, and marginalized communities. She has published extensively in top journals and been featured in media like The Atlantic.
Godfrey’s work integrates developmental, community, and social psychology to understand responses to systemic inequity. She employs intersectional frameworks to analyze how power dynamics shape individual and institutional behaviors.
