Erik Larson is Chair & Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Florida International University (FIU). He holds a B.S. from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from New York University. His research focuses on the intersection of religion, language, and culture, particularly the influence of Greek culture on the Near East post-Alexander the Great and the impact of Judaism/Christianity on the Greco-Roman world.
He joined the Dead Sea Scrolls editorial team in 1991, contributing to Oxford University Press' Discoveries in the Judean Desert series. His upcoming E.J. Brill study examines Aramaic Enoch manuscripts and their Greek translations. He teaches courses on the Hebrew Bible, Biblical Archaeology, Dead Sea Scrolls, New Testament, Early Christian History, Islam, and World Religions, along with language classes in Biblical Hebrew, New Testament Greek, and Classical Arabic.
His work bridges ancient religious texts with cultural history, emphasizing textual analysis and historical context. Though no specific grants or awards are listed, his academic contributions reflect deep engagement with early Jewish and Christian literature.
