Erik Hurst is the Roman Family Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Director of the Becker Friedman Institute. His research integrates macroeconomics, labor economics, and urban economics, addressing topics like wage growth, housing markets, and discrimination.
Key awards include the Samuelson Award (2006) for retirement consumption studies and the Kauffman Prize (2012) for entrepreneurship research. He teaches courses on applied macroeconomics and the business environment.
