Veronica Guerrieri serves as the Ronald E. Tarrson Distinguished Service Professor of Economics and Willard Graham Faculty Scholar at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is a prominent macroeconomist specializing in market frictions and has held significant editorial positions including managing editor of the Review of Economic Studies since 2017.
Education:

Professor Guerrieri's research focuses on how market imperfections, particularly in labor and financial markets, affect macroeconomic outcomes. Coming from Europe, she has been particularly interested in labor market malfunctioning, exploring frictional labor markets and other market imperfections through the lenses of search theory, dynamic contracting, and growth theory. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world economic challenges, including pandemic-related economic shocks and global economic linkages.

Professor Guerrieri has held numerous prestigious positions including Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research since 2013 and consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since 2014. She has served as co-director of the Macro Initiative of the Becker Friedman Institute (BFI) and has been a visiting professor at MIT, Yale, LSE, NYU, CREI and EIEF, as well as a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Her teaching includes courses such as 'Financial Markets in the Macroeconomy' and 'Macroeconomics and the Business Environment'.
As co-director of the Macro Initiative of the BFI, Professor Guerrieri leads research efforts examining macroeconomic phenomena through innovative theoretical and empirical approaches, fostering collaboration among economists studying business cycles, financial markets, and labor dynamics.
