Erica S. Lawson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies at Western University. Holding an MA and PhD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, she specializes in the Black intellectual tradition, examining how Black communities produce knowledge under structural marginalization.
Her research focuses on Black, Caribbean, and African women's activism against systemic violence, particularly through her SSHRC Partnership Development Grant (2024-27) project Commemorating the Experiences of Liberian Women Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. This initiative bridges community-university collaborations between Western University and Liberian partners to create arts-based memorials for post-war healing.
