Dr. Erica O'Neill is a Lecturer in the Department of History of Art at the University of Glasgow, within the School of Culture and Creative Arts. She earned her PhD in History of Art from Glasgow in 2021 and joined the faculty in 2022. Her research focuses on avant-garde practices, particularly Dada and Surrealism, with a specialization in Tristan Tzara’s theatrical works. She advocates interdisciplinary approaches, integrating quantum mechanics and social justice into art analysis.
Education: PhD in History of Art, University of Glasgow (2021).
Research Interests:
- Avant-garde praxis applied to contemporary social issues
- Global art dynamics, including European avant-garde and First Nations Australian art
- Interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of arts, language, and science

- Co-edited Approximate Humanism (Dada/Surrealism, 2023), featuring work on Black Dada and Tzara’s The Flight
