Dr. Eric Martin is a Lecturer in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Greenwich, affiliated with the School of Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Science. He leads the MSc Civil Engineering (Water, Waste and Environment) programme. His work bridges academia and applied research in environmental data science.
- Education: PhD, MSc(Eng.), BSc(Eng.), BA (Bachelor of Arts), and P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) designation.
His research focuses on data-driven hydrogeological characterization, emerging contaminants, and applying machine learning, image analysis, and time series modeling to environmental challenges. He collaborates with institutions like the Alan Turing Institute and British Geological Survey on geohazards and carbon storage projects.
Prior roles include advising the Ontario Ministry of the Environment as a Hydrogeologist, teaching at Queen’s University (Canada), and contributing to the University of Birmingham’s MSc Hydrogeology programme. He also has seven years in regulatory hydrogeology, leading assessments for industrial, agricultural, and northern infrastructure projects with Indigenous and government partners.
His expertise spans groundwater hydraulics, contaminant transport, and organic pollutant remediation, complemented by field instruction experience.
