Dr. Eric Lou is a Reader in Project Management and Head of International at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Manchester Metropolitan University. He holds a Visiting Professorship at Universiti Malaya and has extensive industry experience in construction, IT, and environmental sectors. His research focuses on sustainability-led design, BIM integration, and the trichotomy of people-process-technology in construction management.
Education: PhD (E-Readiness in Construction, University of Salford, 2013), MSc (IT Management in Construction, University of Salford, 2004), BSc (Computer Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 2003). Professional qualifications include Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and certifications in environmental auditing.
Research interests span heritage management, circular economy principles, and advanced digital imaging for BIM. He has secured grants from the Royal Academy of Engineering, British Council, and Newton Fund, leading projects on disruptive innovation and heritage assessment schemes. Awards include the Research Excellence Award (2016) and finalist recognitions in UK construction awards.
Community roles include School Governor positions in the UK. He serves on editorial boards for journals like Smart and Sustainable Built Environment and reviews for Horizon 2020 and Newton Fund initiatives.
