معرفی
Dr. Eric Hall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. His research focuses on cytoneme-mediated cell-cell communication in development and disease, combining molecular assays with advanced microscopy techniques. He leads the Hall Lab, which investigates how cytonemes facilitate intercellular protein transport to pattern tissues and organs. Prior to this, he completed his PhD at Simon Fraser University and a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Education:
- BSc in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology, University of British Columbia Okanagan (2011)
- PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Simon Fraser University (2017)
- Postdoctoral Fellow in Cell and Molecular Biology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (2024)
Research Interests: Dr. Hall’s work centers on understanding cytoneme function in mammalian systems, particularly their role in neurodevelopment and stem cell niches. He develops novel tissue preservation and microscopy protocols to study cytonemes in mouse tissues and cultured cells. His lab explores defects in cytoneme signaling linked to developmental disorders and tumor-stroma interactions.
Advising & Grants: Dr. Hall actively mentors graduate students and postdocs interested in cytoneme biology. He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches combining genetics, cell biology, and imaging to advance our understanding of tissue patterning mechanisms.
Labs/Teams: The Hall Lab collaborates with institutions like the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and focuses on translational research to bridge basic science with clinical applications.
