Sabine Hombach-Klonisch is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. Her research focuses on cancer metastasis, treatment resistance, and brain tumors. She holds a PhD in tumor biology from Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, and completed specialty training in human anatomy from the Medical Association of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Her lab uses advanced techniques such as single-cell analysis and animal models to study mechanisms like DNA damage responses, telomere stability, and the role of proteins like HMGA2 and RXFP1. She leads initiatives through affiliations like the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and the Brain Tumor Research Alliance Manitoba (BTRAM).
Dr. Hombach-Klonisch is also a dedicated educator, recognized for teaching excellence, and actively mentors graduate students pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees. Her awards highlight her contributions to both research and education.
