معرفی
Professor Eric Geertsma serves as a Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden, Germany, where he directs research on membrane transport protein mechanisms.
His primary research focuses on:
- Structural and functional analysis of SLC26/NCS2 transporter families
- Anion transport mechanisms using nanobody-based multi-stage interrogation
- Disorder-function relationships in transporter conformational dynamics
Currently leading two DFG Research Groups projects, his work bridges molecular cell biology and structural biophysics to decode membrane protein operations. The lab actively develops innovative approaches for studying transporter dynamics with implications for disease mechanisms.
Professor Geertsma's research program includes:
- Ongoing: 'Nanobodies for multi-stage analysis of SLC26 anion transporters' (PZ)
- Ongoing: 'Disorder Functional Relationships in SLC26 Transporters' (P1)
- Completed: Sub-project management in SFB 'Structure, function and dynamics of SLC26 and NCS2 transport proteins'
His group provides specialized training in membrane protein biochemistry and structural analysis for graduate researchers within MPI-CBG's collaborative research environment.
