Eric Boyd is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology, Umeå University. He holds interdisciplinary degrees including a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Dundee, an MSc in Social Anthropology from University College London, and a PhD from Durham University focusing on hauntology. His research interests center structural violence, memory politics, extractivism in Sápmi, and critical heritage studies. Currently leading the #neverforget vs. #neverhappened project on Holocaust commemoration contested on social media through the Centre for Digital Social Research (DIGSUM).

Research explores intersections between memory, power, and resistance. Recent work examines mining heritage tourism failures in China and memorialisation contestation in Kiruna, Sweden. Active in research groups including DurhamARCTIC, PoReSo (Gothenburg), ZiRS Young Researchers Network, and DIGSUM's Digital Sociology focus.
Publications analyze topics like user-generated content in mining heritage sites and methodological approaches to interdisciplinary research. Current project (2023–2026) investigates Holocaust memorialisation narratives on social media platforms.
