Eric Bonvin is a full Professor at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), affiliated with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry at CHUV. He is also the Director General of the Valais Hospital (RSV), with a dual career in academic psychiatry and healthcare leadership.
His research interests span psychiatry, psychotherapy, and the ethical dimensions of therapeutic practice, with a strong focus on mental health planning and management. He is particularly known for his expertise in complementary medicine—including medical hypnosis, anthroposophic medicine, and homeopathy—and its integration into mainstream healthcare from social, political, and ethical perspectives.
Bonvin has contributed to academic education by lecturing at UNIL and the University of Paris VI on alternative medicines and medical hypnosis. His professional trajectory reflects a commitment to bridging clinical psychiatry with systemic healthcare leadership.
