Epp Annus is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Humanities at Tallinn University and teaches at Ohio State University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tartu. Her research focuses on Soviet and post-Soviet Baltic cultures, integrating postcolonial theory with affect studies, geopoetics, ecocriticism, and political philosophy. Current projects analyze Soviet-era cultural texts alongside post-Soviet life writing, incorporating autoethnographic methods.
Key works include Soviet Postcolonial Studies: A View from the Western Borderlands (2018) and edited volumes such as Coloniality, Nationality, Modernity (2018). Her interdisciplinary approach bridges literary criticism, cultural history, and political analysis. Recent publications address topics like Soviet-era selfhood in the Anthropocene, spatial politics in the Baltics, and digital nation-building in Estonia.
Publications span monographs, journal articles, and edited collections in multiple languages, reflecting her engagement with global scholarly discourse. Beyond academia, Annus has published creative works including poetry, children’s books, and a novel, Sina, Matilda (‘You, Matilda’).
