Linda Kaljundi is a Professor of Cultural History at the Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonian Academy of Arts, Faculty of Art and Culture, Institute of Art History and Visual Culture) and serves as Vice-Rector for Research. She previously held roles including Associate Professor at Tallinn University (School of Humanities) and Senior Research Fellow at the Finnish Literature Society. Her career includes visiting positions at Lund University, Copenhagen University, and MIT as a Fulbright Scholar (2024).
She earned a BA and MA in History from the University of Tartu (1997–2005), followed by a PhD in History from the University of Helsinki (2016). Her research focuses on cultural memory, environmental history, historiography, and decolonization, particularly in the Baltic Sea region and Estonia. She has led collaborative projects such as the 'New Frames for Monuments' initiative (2024–2026) and curated major exhibitions like Art in the Anthropocene Era (2023), Identity Landscapes: Estonian Art 1700–1945 (2018), and Art or Science (2022–2024).
Her honors include the Kristjan Raud Art Award (2022) and the Estonian national achievement award for culture (2022). She actively participates in organizations like the European Society for Environmental History (ESEH), Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS), and International Council of Museums (ICOM). Administrative roles include membership in the Estonian History Museum Council and the Estonian Academy of Arts' ETIS research board.
Her creative work spans exhibition curation, TV documentaries, and performance-lectures. Notable collaborations include exhibitions with Kadi Polli, Tiina-Mall Kreem, and Bart Pushaw, exploring themes like colonialism, Baltic heritage, and environmental crises.
