Professor Enrique Amaya holds the Healing Foundation Chair in Tissue Regeneration at the University of Manchester, leading research on molecular mechanisms of tissue formation and regeneration using Xenopus and zebrafish models. His work investigates scar-free healing, inflammation regulation, and metabolic controls of regeneration.
Research focuses on:
- Reactive oxygen species in regeneration
- Embryonic wound healing mechanisms
- Inflammation control in tissue repair
- Metabolic reprogramming (Warburg effect)
Honors include Wellcome Trust and Jane Coffin Childs fellowships. Professor Amaya serves as Senior Editor for Wound Repair and Regeneration and directs research on ROS-mediated regeneration pathways with therapeutic applications.
