Kimberly Mace is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Cell Matrix Biology & Regenerative Medicine at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, University of Manchester, UK. She has held academic positions since 2012, focusing on tissue repair and regeneration, with a particular emphasis on myeloid cell biology and transcriptional regulation during wound healing. Her work intersects with the Manchester Regenerative Medicine Network, Lydia Becker Institute, and Christabel Pankhurst Institute.
- PhD, University of California San Diego (1997-2003)
- BSc, University of Nevada Las Vegas (1992-1996)
- BFA, University of Southern California (1986-1991)
Mace's research investigates how myeloid cells regulate wound repair and regeneration in diabetic and aging contexts. Her lab uses mouse models to analyze:
- Myeloid cell recruitment to injured tissues
- Transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms in inflammation
- Role of iron metabolism in healing
- Therapeutic strategies like electrical stimulation and collagen dressings
Key article trends include myeloid cell dysfunction in diabetes, electrical stimulation for tissue repair, and epigenetic regulation of inflammation. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals via regenerative medicine advancements.
Scientific Awards:
- Healing Foundation Fellow (2007-2012)
- Ruth L. Kirschstein NIH Postdoctoral Fellow (2003-2007)
