Enrico Perotti is a Professor of International Finance at the Amsterdam Business School, University of Amsterdam. He has held visiting appointments at Harvard University and the University of Oxford, and is a Fellow of the European Economic Association.
His educational background includes a PhD in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1990).
Perotti's research spans a broad range of topics in political economy and finance. His primary interests include Financial Stability, Corporate Governance, Banking, Political Economy, Macro Finance, Financial and Legal History, Innovation, and Organization Theory. He is particularly focused on structural breaks in the growth process, rising demand for safety, and their impact on financial stagnation and inequality.
His notable awards include:
- Lopez de la Vega Prize for the best paper on the European Stock Exchange (2002)
- Fellow of the European Economic Association
Perotti has an extensive advisory career, having served at the World Bank, IMF, European Commission, and major central banks including the ECB, Fed, Bank of England, and DNB. He currently serves on the ESRB Advisory Research Council at the ECB. Additionally, he secured a significant research grant from a social sciences and humanities competition to study redistributive growth.
He is an active member of the ECONtribute research cluster at the University of Amsterdam since 2019, contributing to interdisciplinary research on economic policy and stability.
