Dr. Emrah Akyüz is an Associate Professor at Bingöl University, Turkey, specializing in Environmental Policy and Energy Politics. He joined the university in 2020 and holds an MSc in Urban Studies from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD from the University of Leeds, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Dalhousie University, Canada.
His research integrates political science, law, and environmental studies, focusing on:
- Environmental justice and nuclear governance (e.g., Fukushima/Chernobyl case studies)
- Climate change law and energy democracy
- Public perception of environmental risks and policy legitimacy
- Urban social movements and ethical dimensions of technological transitions
He actively contributes as a reviewer/editor for journals like Natural Resources Forum (UN) and Progress in Nuclear Energy, and participates in international conferences on sustainable governance. At Bingöl, he teaches courses on environmental policy, energy politics, and climate law.
