Dr Emma Yu is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) Intermediate Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. She focuses on mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease, particularly atherosclerosis, and combines clinical practice with independent research.

Her research explores mitochondrial DNA damage, respiration deficits, and regulatory pathways in atherosclerosis. She uses in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo techniques to identify therapeutic targets for plaque stabilization and improved patient outcomes.
Her work has been recognized through the British Atherosclerosis Society Young Investigator Award and NIHR Clinical Lectureship. She was awarded the BHF Clinical Research Fellowship during her PhD training.
