Dr. Emma Wilson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester, based in the Chester Medical School and affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society. She holds roles as Programme Lead for the MSc in Orthopaedics, Locomotion Lead for the MBChB programme, and Induction Lead for Postgraduate students. Her teaching portfolio includes module leadership for Postgraduate modules and evidence-based medicine instruction.
Education: PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Liverpool (2001–2005), BSc (Hons) in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Wolverhampton (1997–2001), PGCE in Secondary Education (2015), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2018).
Research interests focus on musculoskeletal diseases, including osteoporosis, neuromuscular disorders, and diabetic bone disease. She collaborates with institutions like Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (Metabolic Bone Research Group), Keele University, and the University of Liverpool. Her technical expertise includes mass spectrometry, cell culture systems, confocal microscopy, and gene manipulation.
Professional activities include membership in the Bone Research Society, peer review for Equine Veterinary Journal, and roles on the Faculty Research Ethics Committee and MBChB Curriculum Committee. She has supervised multiple postgraduate research projects and actively contributes to academic governance and education.
