Emma Nishimura (she/her) is an Assistant Professor at OCAD University's Faculty of Art. Her interdisciplinary practice spans printmaking, photography, sculpture, and installation, focusing on memory, loss, and inherited narratives, particularly the Japanese Canadian experience during WWII incarceration.
- Exhibited at Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Academy of Arts (London), and Taimiao Art Gallery (Beijing)
- Works included in public/private collections: Art Gallery of Ontario, Library of Congress, Japanese Canadian National Museum
- Awarded Queen Sonja Print Award (2018) and grants from Ontario Arts Council, Open Studio, and International Print Center New York
Her research investigates historical trauma and intergenerational storytelling through material-based art practices, often collaborating with archives and cultural institutions.
