Dot Tuer is a tenured Professor and Founding Chair of Visual and Critical Studies in the Faculty of Arts & Science at OCAD University, where she previously chaired the Criticism and Curatorial Practice programs. A distinguished writer, curator, and cultural historian, her career bridges academic scholarship and creative practice in visual arts.
She holds master's and doctorate degrees in history from the University of Toronto, forming the foundation for her interdisciplinary work.
Tuer's research centers on visual storytelling and memory-making practices across the Americas, with extensive publications on Latin American and Canadian art. Her work critically examines performance, photography, and new media while integrating deep historical analysis of Guaraní-Spanish relations in Argentina and Paraguay. This unique fusion of cultural history and contemporary art theory positions her at the forefront of hemispheric studies.
