Emma McEvoy is a Professor in Literary Studies at the University of Westminster, specializing in Gothic and Romantic Studies. Educated at the University of Leeds (BA Hons in English) and University of Wales, Cardiff (PhD in English), she previously worked at Goldsmiths College and the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Her 2025 monograph The Music of the Gothic: 1789-1820 (Cambridge University Press) challenges existing narratives about Gothic musical representation, while her 2016 book Gothic Tourism (Palgrave Macmillan) explores performed architectures in heritage contexts. She co-edited the foundational Routledge Companion to Gothic (2007).
Current projects include Romantic travel journals research and heritage-literature relationships. Funded by British Academy and Leverhulme Trust grants, her work includes audio archives and a Wallace Collection lecture-recital.
