Professor Angela Wright is a leading academic in Romantic and Gothic literature at the University of Sheffield's School of English. Her research focuses on the interplay between Gothic and Romantic modes from the 1760s to 1820s, with a particular emphasis on British and French literary traditions.

Her research bridges translation studies, literary networks, and gender analysis. Key projects include examining Gothic circulations in Romantic periodicals, editorial work on Ann Radcliffe and Mary Shelley, and exploring intersections of Gothic with nationalism and memory studies.
Recent publications address Gothic spatial theory (‘The house of misery’), Gothic in Romantic poetry, and European cultural exchanges. Her Cambridge History of the Gothic co-edited volumes and 2023 Cambridge History of European Romantic Literature chapter highlight her editorial leadership.
