Dr Rosie Whitcombe is an MHRA Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield’s School of English, working on the Cambridge Edition of Ann Radcliffe’s collected works. She holds a PhD from Birmingham City University, where her research focused on John Keats’s letters within historical and literary frameworks. An Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), she specializes in 18th/19th-century epistolary literature, Romantic poetry, and Gothic fiction.
Education: BA and MA (University of Sheffield), PhD (Birmingham City University).
Research Interests: She examines Keats’s use of letters to merge verse and prose, particularly around themes of death and grief. Her current project explores Ann Radcliffe’s posthumous literary reputation and its manipulation by the press. She co-edited The Life and Adventures of Harvey Teasdale, a rare 19th-century working-class autobiography.
Awards: Winner of the 2020 Keats-Shelley Essay Prize for her analysis of Keats’s epistolary style.
