معرفی
Dr Emma Jamieson is a Translational Research Fellow at the Rural Clinical School of The University of Western Australia. Her work focuses on gestational diabetes, hyperglycemia in pregnancy, and improving rural antenatal screening, particularly for Aboriginal communities. She leads phases of the ORCHID Study (2015–2027) to validate alternative testing methods like glycated haemoglobin and glycated albumin, addressing barriers to traditional OGTT screening.
Her research spans three phases:
- Phase 1 (2015–2018) identified high rates of undiagnosed gestational diabetes in rural areas.
- Phase 2 (2020–2022) evaluated glucose stabilization tubes in Kimberley clinics.
- Phase 3 (2022–2027) aims to co-design culturally appropriate management strategies for Aboriginal women and national implementation.
Scientific awards include:
- 2019 Honorable Mention Certificate
- 2018 Jean Kahan Travel Award
- 2018 Australasian Diabetes In Pregnancy Society Emerging Investigator Award.
She holds a PhD (2022) from UWA and a BSc (Hons) in Medical Science from Curtin University, with 15+ years of lab experience in type 1 diabetes and islet transplantation at St Vincent’s Institute and Harry Perkins Institute.
