Emma Collins is a Lecturer at the School of Art and Media, University of Brighton, affiliated with the Communication and Creative Ecologies Research Excellence Group and Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. Her work bridges digital and analogue practices, focusing on sustainability, community engagement, and visual narratives.

Emma’s research explores how digital connections foster analogue collaboration, emphasizing eco-systems, mindfulness, and wellbeing. She investigates the role of social media in creative practices, material culture, and climate anxiety, often integrating participatory methods.
Her recent projects include funded initiatives like “Our Songs Our Stories” (2024) and “Making Better by Design” (2021-2022), addressing sustainability in craft SMEs and co-creation with disabled communities. Her research output spans exhibitions, articles, and a forthcoming book on Mindfulness in Making (2027).
Emma collaborates with institutions such as AHRC, Design Museum, and Culture Shift. She has presented at conferences including Kingston University’s Identity and the Home Symposium (2022) and Techne - Making As Research (2009).
