Dr Emma Broglia is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sheffield's School of Psychology, with affiliations to the Interdisciplinary Centre of the Social Sciences (ICOSS). Her work focuses on student mental health, particularly the effectiveness of clinical interventions and policy development in higher education settings. She collaborates with organizations like BACP and UKCP, emphasizing practice-based evidence.
Education: PhD in Psychology (University of Sheffield, BACP-funded), MRes in Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience (University of Birmingham), BSc in Psychology (University of Birmingham).
Research interests include pilot/feasibility trials, routine outcome monitoring (ROM), co-production with practitioners/service users, and policy shaping for mental health services. She leads the SMaRteN initiative under a £910k ESRC grant, creating an open-access longitudinal dataset for student mental health.
Teaching involves master’s modules on pilot trial design and professional skills (open science, pre-registration). She supervises research across undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels, focusing on student mental health and intervention outcomes. External roles include PhD supervision at University of York and UCL.
