Emma Bolderson

Adjunct Associate Professor Emma Bolderson is affiliated with Queensland University of Technology (QUT), holding a position in the School of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Health. She holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on genomic stability, DNA repair mechanisms, and cancer therapeutics, with a particular emphasis on proteins involved in DNA damage response pathways such as hSSB1, Banf1, and PARP1.

Her research interests span cancer genomics, DNA repair pathways, and the development of targeted therapies for cancers such as lung, breast, and colorectal cancers. Key areas include studying proteins like hSSB1, COMMD4, and Aldolase A, which play roles in DNA damage repair and tumor progression. She also explores the therapeutic potential of inhibiting DNA repair pathways to enhance chemotherapy efficacy.

Recent work highlights her contributions to understanding how proteins like Banf1 regulate PARP1 activity under oxidative stress, and how Aldolase A facilitates DNA repair processes. She has also explored nuclear membrane proteins' roles in tumorigenesis and their potential as therapeutic targets.

Her publications demonstrate expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and translational oncology, with a focus on translating basic research findings into clinical applications. Emma collaborates with teams investigating drug targets, such as Aurora B kinase and CDCA3, to improve cancer treatment outcomes.
