Dr Laura Croft is a Research Fellow at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her research focuses on cancer biology, DNA repair mechanisms, and oligonucleotide therapeutics. She holds a PhD from Griffith University and has expertise in molecular biology, drug development, and cellular imaging techniques.
Her research interests include exploring novel roles of proteins like hSSB1 in DNA damage repair pathways, developing oligonucleotide-based therapies, and advancing 3D organoid models for drug testing. She has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed publications, with recent work emphasizing the cytotoxicity of modified oligonucleotides and the therapeutic potential of hSSB1 inhibition in lung and prostate cancers.
Dr Croft supervises a PhD project investigating THOC4’s role in DNA repair and EGFR-mutant NSCLC. She collaborates with Professors Derek Richard and Ken O'Byrne, and her work integrates molecular modeling, live-cell imaging, and pharmacological approaches to combat cancer.
