Emily White

Emily White is a Professor of Sackbut at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, specializing in historical performance and contemporary music. She also teaches trombone at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Wells Cathedral School. A member of The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, she has contributed to acclaimed recordings like the Diapason D'or-winning La Morte della Ragione with Il Giardino Armonico. Her work spans early music, improvisation, and commissions such as John Kenny’s Secret House.

Education includes studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School, and Trinity Laban for baroque violin. She leads the trio Pandora’s Box, touring internationally with an improvisatory blend of early and contemporary music. Awards include the ARAM fellowship and affiliations with Conn-Selmer. Upcoming projects include the 2022 release A Cry Was Heard with Deux-Elles.

Her research emphasizes early music performance practices and interdisciplinary collaborations. Grants and residencies support her work in bridging historical and modern musical traditions.
