Emily Montenero

Emily Montenero is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Science at the University of St Mary's, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees within the Institute of Education. Her career spans 16 years in teaching, including roles as Assistant Head, Science Leader, and mentor, followed by leadership positions at London South Bank University and consulting with organizations like the Primary STEM Education Consultancy (PSEC). She currently advises schools and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) and develops science content for PLAN assessment.

Her research focuses on enhancing primary science education, particularly for multilingual learners. She has published in the Primary Science Journal and co-authored Science in a Nutshell (Association for Science Education). She collaborates with STEM and the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) initiatives, administering the Primary Science Enhancement Award (PSEA) at St Mary's.

Emily holds an MA in Education from St Mary’s, where her thesis examined teaching reading to children with English as an additional language in international schools. She bridges academic research with practical application through her consulting work and curriculum development.
