Dr. Emily Lovett is a Senior External Engagement Fellow at Edge Hill University's Sport & Physical Activity Health Research Institute, based in the Department of Sport and Physical Activity. She holds a PhD from the University of Chester and has been affiliated with Edge Hill since 2014, previously working at Newman University. Her research focuses on mental health, policy evaluation, perinatal mental health interventions, and family leisure dynamics. Teaching roles include leading the Sport Management undergraduate program and contributing to the MSc in Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health. She actively supervises students and teaches across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research interests span policy analysis, perinatal mental health's intersection with physical activity, and family leisure practices. Key collaborations include work with BMJ Open and Midwifery journals, addressing topics like perinatal loneliness and fatherhood transitions. She serves on editorial boards for European Physical Education Review, Leisure Studies, and International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics.
