Emily Fletcher is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School, affiliated with the UWA Centre for Child Health Research and The Kids Research Institute Australia. Her research focuses on glioblastoma, ion channel biology, and targeted therapies for cancer. Key interests include drug repurposing for brain cancer and understanding ion channel roles in tumor growth and invasion.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. Recent grants include repurposing ion channel drugs for brain cancer therapy (2022–2024) and a multiphoton microscope acquisition (2022). She collaborates internationally on neuro-oncology projects and has published widely on ion channels in malignant cancers.
Labs and teams: Active in the UWA Centre for Child Health Research and involved in collaborative networks addressing pediatric and adult brain cancer research. Future work continues to explore therapeutic strategies targeting ion channel pathways in aggressive cancers.
